.....and also to my Dad.....Happy Birthday to you! In my family we sing happy birthday. Always. On my birthday I can count on a call from my sister and my dad with a song attached. I still have the birthday message song my dad left on my cell in October. It makes me smile just to listen to it.
My husbands family does NOT sing happy birthday. At least not in the fanatic stalker way my family does! So it annoys him to no end that every member of my family calls him at work on his cell phone to sing to him...well, mainly just my sister, but she can sing up some doosies. For example, one year on her husband's birthday we called his voicemail at work and performed a fabulous american bandstand style du wop (spelling) version of Happy Birthday. Thank goodness I don't know anyone he works with because he played the voicemail back for the entire office to hear!
Anyway, I DO know people at my husband's work so I will not be leaving a voicemail! But I will be waking him up with my lovely rendition of Happy Birthday and his 31 licks and one to grow on and a pinch to grow an inch! Don't you wish you lived here on your birthday??
I think he was secretly hoping I'd be gone to my brother's overnight so he would miss his annual wake up call,....no such luck honey!!

Happy birthday to your husband :) - Hm, his family doesn't sing the birthday song....
Blessings to you and yours.
That is hilarious! My sister and I usually do the same. Since we've had kids though, it seems like our brains have turned to mush and our birthdays have gone the way of the wind. Ahhh...you gotta love baby brain!
We are the same way. It drives my husband NUTS because his family doesn't make a big deal about birthdays - but MINE does. And we call and sing and have big family parties - so much fun.
Happy Birthday to your hubby!
I love OTHER peoples birthdays!
Happy Birthday to your husabnd! or as we say here, Feliz Cumpleaños!
I was laughing out loud again...'fanatic stalker way my family does' and 'she can sing up some doosies'...That last one sounds like something that would come out of MY mouth. It is crazy! Then about knowing your husband's co-workers so you WON'T leave a voice mail there...I am laughing as I am typing this. YOU have a gift for storytelling and I'm glad I happened upon your blog. You are hilarious...and happy birthday to your husband and Dad!
Di-dan that is the sweetest comment I have ever read! I'm glad you found my blog too! And I yours I love reading your comments and about your daily life! You totally crack me up!
I always call all my family and friends with a Birthday "MEDLEY", you know the original birthday song, then a little Stevie Wonder, "Happy Birthday to ya" with a little rocker version of "So you say it's your birthday?" My nephew has it saved on his voice mail and continues to play it.
I did it last year for one of my Realtor girlfriends at work and she went around the entire office letting EVERYONE hear it!!!
Yeah, I kept hearing "stick to your day job!"
Tracey, that is a great idea!! My family will be sooooo excited to hear a little variety! I just had another idea, you know that song Bette Midler sings while dressed in a bunny costume in the movie Beaches?...Happy Happy Birthday Bunny? That would be a great one to add to a medley!
Hey deedra, tell kyle I said happy birthday....
I just wanted you to know that I had not read your blog until this morning. Rachel calling and singing Happy Birthday was all her idea. So we do have at least one lunatic(haha) on our side of the family. By the way, after she left a voicemail, he called her back and he got to here a live version and she even added the part about him looking like a monkey and smelling like one too.
