My good buddy, Laurel Wreath tagged me to list "10 things that have happened to me" about a week ago, and I have seriously been trying to figure out 10 things since then! To my surprise and dismay, I am apparently rather boring! I know, right!! And, well, let me first say that Laurel is one of THE coolest bloggers EVER so I am honored to list my 10 things,....( Laurel may be getting more than she bargained for though!!.lol)
So. here goes!
1. I am not afraid to color my hair. I have been blond, red, brown, and pretty much everything in between. I have often colored it myself, but this particular time I went to a "professional" (I use the term VERY lightly) to get my brown roots dyed blond, and ended up with hair so white, I promise you it was TRANSPARENT! I. AM. NOT. KIDDING! You could see through my hair. I don't remember how old I was exactly, but I was young enough that I knew if my Dad saw it, I was dead meat! I stopped at the drug store on the way home and bought the darkest brown color I could find and dyed it again before he got home......FYI...the "pro" stylist now works at Kmart.
2. When I was in high school, I skipped on occasion. Well, actually, me & my sister did. We didn't do anything exciting, we usually just went home. ( I was a teachers aid to the worst teacher ever!) Once my dad came home early from work (like, during school hours) and I almost died when I saw him coming down the driveway! I made my younger sister get in the tub and told my dad she had cramps so I had to bring her home. Well, it worked since no male on the planet wants to discuss "cramps"
3. I have a permanent scar on my leg from where my sister and I (yes, same sister!) decided when we were 8 or 9 that we would swipe one of my Grandpa's cigarette's and smoke it. So we sneaked out to my Grandma's car and used the cigarette lighter in her car. Only, being my suave 9 year old self, I dropped the hot lighter on my leg....OUCH! To make matters worse, I couldn't tell anyone what happened or we'd be busted. I had no desire to smoke again after that.
4. I broke both my arms in the 11th grade. Not at the same time, mind you. The first one I broke during Ag class. We were being forced to build a birdhouse and the clamp came off the wood as I drilled the hole in the front and it swung around and hit my wrist. The second arm was a few months later. I tripped out the door of my boyfriend's (now my husband) house and broke the other one. Fun! You can imagine what a cute accessory a cast makes for 3 months out of a school year!
5. One year on the 4th of July we went to a local celebration. It's in a nearby town on the river and some come in boats to watch, but that year we had driven and as we walked back to our car a rocket came from out of the crowd and went directly up my shorts. I thought my leg had been blown off! I think if my dad had found out who shot it, he'd have seriously injured them. I can honestly say I think that is the maddest I've ever seen him!
6. When I was in the 9th grade I received the "Presidential Award for Physical Fitness" during awards day(which is hilarious in itself now!). I tripped out of the bleachers while going up to get my award. I'm glad that President Bush (the first one) wasn't present! He might have had to rethink the award!
7. I was saved during revival when I was 10 years old. Later, I was baptized in our pond.(there were no indoor baptistry's (sp?) around here then!) Anyway, we had these 3 Canadian geese on our pond who assaulted the minister during the baptism. I'm sure it's one he won't ever forget! He'll probably be glad to know that one of the geese was eventually baled up in a hay baler, and I can't quite remember what happened to the other 2.
8. I married my high school sweetheart when I was 21. We started dating just before I turned 17. 9 and a half years after we were married, we had our first child!
9. I have never had a speeding ticket! (Not that I haven't needed one on about a million occasions!).....I will probably get one on the way to church today
10. On Tuesday of this past week, I discovered I was pregnant! The funny part? I didn't really think I was when I took the test, I thought I had a virus or something and only took a test before I went and doped myself up to feel better. I took the test & laid it on the sink. Then Carter came in with a book he wanted to read. We read the book, animal sounds and all, and then I thought, oh yeah....that test! When I saw the "pregnant" I almost dropped Carter right in the floor! Evidently I lost myself for a minute, because when I came to, Carter was sopping a swiffer duster from the trash in and out of the toilet(thankfully, a clean toilet!) and had about a gallon of water on the floor! I'm pretty sure I have baby brain still,...now add pregnant brain to that and ohhhh what a ride!!
Thank you so much for the tag, Laurel! This was a fun tag to do, so I'm gonna pass it on! I'm tagging Shelly, Mandy, & Julie!
